2001 Pontiac Grand Am in Source

This is a game ready model of a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am. This model was originally made for the Source engine but has now been converted to use a PBR workflow and was my first attempt at roughness/metallic shading. I am currently in the process of updating this model with more accurate proportions and measurements as well as a more memory efficient texture system.

The fifth and final generation of the Pontiac Grand Am was built on the GM “N-body” platform and continued to be produced until 2005 when it was replaced by the Pontiac G6. In 2001 the car could be fitted with a 2.4l 4 cylinder or 3.4l V6. This particular model is fitted with the 2.4l engine and a 4 speed automatic, though a 5 speed manual was optional.

When I put this car into Garry's Mod I used all of the advanced vehicle lighting, this was just one of the many additional features I added to the car.

While the Source Engine's shader support was good for the time I really ran into limitations when trying to accurately simulate advanced materials like metallic paint and refractive light lenses but I think the results were very good.

Interactive 3D view of the car with updated PBR materials.

The car features a fully detailed interior as well as animated interactive controls. All of the dials were animated to work using a combination of Source's built in vehicle support as well as additional advanced features which used GMod's lua system

I remember spending hours getting the fonts for the buttons and dials looking just like the real car, some characters had to be edited manually.
